Leinier Domínguez Pérez, born on September 23, 1983, in Havana, Cuba, is a distinguished chess Grandmaster who transitioned to the United States in 2018. He is a five-time Cuban Chess Champion, having secured titles in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2012, and 2016. In 2008, Domínguez achieved international acclaim by winning the World Blitz Chess Championship. He has represented Cuba in multiple Chess Olympiads and has been a key figure in the nation’s chess achievements. After relocating to the U.S., he continued to excel, earning second place in the 2019 U.S. Chess Championship and co-winning the Netanya Masters in Israel the same year. As of January 2025, Domínguez holds a FIDE rating of 2741, ranking him among the top 15 players globally.
