Carl Oscar Hovind (1901-1982) was a top Norwegian chess player and writer. Between 1946 and 1949 he was president of Norwegian Chess Federation. As a writer he is well known for his book Sjakk for Alle (Chess for All) published in 1943.
Clubs turn to online chess
The ChessClub and Scholastic Center of Atlantaclosed on March 11 because of the pandemic. Its founders, Karen Boyd and Grandmaster Ben Finegold, are streaming online and planning the club’s in-person re-opening. The Dallas Chess Club vacated its rented location in June.
