Yury Shulman

Yury Shulman (born 1975) is a Belarusian-American chess Grandmaster who achieved his title in 1995. Born in Minsk, Belarus, he became the Belarusian Champion in 1994. After moving to the United States in 1999, Shulman won the U.S. Chess Championship in 2008 and the U.S. Open Chess Championship in 2006. He is also a nationally recognized chess teacher, having coached the U.S. Women’s Olympic team in 2006 and 2014, and the U.S. Olympic team in 2012 and 2013. Shulman co-founded the non-profit organization Chess Without Borders, combining chess education with service and philanthropy.
