Andrey Ostrovskiy, born in 1989 in Ukraine, is an International Master (IM) in chess, a title he earned in 2007. Introduced to chess at the age of five by his father, he began formal training at eight under coach Pavel Savitskiy. In 2005, Ostrovskiy achieved the FIDE Master title, and in 2006, he won the Donetsk Championship, becoming a National Master. He secured his first Grandmaster norm in 2015 by winning the 12th Vasylyshyn Memorial. As of January 2025, his FIDE standard rating is 2412. Currently residing in Cologne, Germany, Ostrovskiy is an active player on platforms like Lichess and Chess.com, where he also offers coaching services. He has trained with renowned experts, including Grandmasters Igor Zaitsev, Andrey Zontakh, and Gennadi Kuzmin, and has participated in training camps of Mark Dvoretsky’s Chess School. Beyond playing, he contributes to the chess community through coaching, streaming, and instructional content.
