Maxime Vachier-Lagrave

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, often called MVL, is a French grandmaster born in 1990. He was a child prodigy who earned the GM title in 2005 at age 14. His peak rating reached 2819, making him the seventh highest rated player in history.

He won the French Chess Championship in 2007, 2011, and 2012. MVL also took the World Junior Chess Championship in 2009. Between 2013 and 2016, he won the Biel Grandmaster Tournament four times in a row.

The Frenchman is a former World Blitz Champion. He also won the Sinquefield Cup.
