Alexander Grischuk is a Russian grandmaster born in 1983. He won the Russian championship in 2009 and has played in five different Candidates Tournaments. During the 2011 tournament, he reached the final. His competitive record includes reaching the semifinals of the 2000 FIDE World Championship and winning three world blitz titles in 2006, 2012, and 2015.

He has won several medals in the Chess Olympiads and the World Team Chess Championship. His highest rating reached 2684. In 2026, he won the BTC Chess960 Championship in Honduras with 7 out of 10 points. He also recently took home his second Freestyle Friday victory after winning eight games in a row.
