Juraj Nikolac is a Croatian Grandmaster born in 1932 in Metković. He earned the International Master title in 1975 and became a Grandmaster in 1979. Outside of chess, he worked as a physics teacher.
His career includes a third place finish behind Aleksandar Matanović in the 1978 Yugoslav championship. Nikolac won tournaments in Vrnjacka Banja in 1978, Bled in 1986, and Maribor in 1987. He also took first place in Amsterdam B in 1977 and shared first in Linz in 1986. Other strong results came in Dortmund, Oberwart, and Wijk aan Zee. He has a classical rating of 2434.
